Fredrick Meijer Gardens

I took the kiddo's up to Fredrick Meijer Gardens on Friday last week. They have a spectacular Children's garden with water, a log cabin, a sand pit, a treehouse and lots of pretty flowers EVERYWHERE. The kids and I had a great time. I decided that since the gardens were so pretty that I should try and get a couple of snapshots of the kids. Unfortunately I do not have a photographers eye and couldn't do these marvelous gardens any justice.
This first one is in front of the entrance.

Lexi, she flipped her hair right before I took the pic.

I was starting to get the hang of doing this BUT then I got in trouble. When I walked up I looked all around for some sign that said we couldn't walk in the gardens. There were empty dirt spots between flowers. I placed the kids on these empty areas to take pictures. Apparently this was unacceptable and a lady yelled at me across a vast distance "to keep my children out of the flowers". I just about left but I took a deep breath and just headed over to the children's gardens.

In the children's gardens they had stepping stones through the gardens so we found some flowers we kind of liked and took some pics. Word to the wise, go to the Children's gardens to take the pics.... :-)

Lexi really liked the flower behind her. Unfortunately she wanted it right behind her. Oh well.

Being Brevon, he didn't want his picture taken, he wanted to go and play. I had to bribe and coerce him to take this one and the following.

In the Children's Gardens is this large cement structure at Child's height. They have replicated the Great Lakes. They have some boats the kids can swim around the area to mimic all the boats on the great lakes. My kids don't quite get geograpy yet so it doesn't all make since to them but when it does they will find some of it very neat!

Playing with the gophers below the tree house.

Playing in the sand pit.

Down in the basement they had an area for kids to landscape and build sculptures of their own. It was nice to have the downtime and get out of the direct sun prior to heading home.

We love Frederick Meijer Gardens too. Have you ever gone when they have the butterflies in the spring? If not you should check it out - pretty cool!
