On Thursday night I took my girls to Naperville to spend the night with my Mom. On Friday we climbed aboard the Metra train and traveled to downtown Chicago. Our destination: the American Girl Store at Water Tower Place. First off, I never thought I would actually go to the overpriced doll store . When you have girls, who wear pink, play with horses, and are overall just girly girls... why not make some girl memories and check out the girly store.

We arrived at the store right after they opened on Friday morning. The timing was great. For the first couple of hours there were probably only ten families in the whole store. The girls were able to explore, discover, and have fun without HUGE crowds. Lexi's American Girl Doll has been loved unconditionally, we bought her used and she is definitely enjoyed by Lexi.
With that being said, I wanted to see what the hair salon could do with her doll. Our main reason for going was so Lexi could have her doll's ears pierced. We stopped at the salon first thing to sign the dolls up for their pampering. Lexi wimped out, Allie did not have her ears pierced. With a lot of convincing Dani had Lanie's hair done also.

We learned how wet we could dampen the hair, how to properly brush out the hair, and how cute both doll's look with a new do!

Since Lanie has naturally curly hair, putting new curls in her hair is a cinch!

Lanie and Dani (and yes, this is a happy, content face!)

Lexi loving on Allie and adoring her new hair do.

A trip to the American Girl Store would not be right without a meal at the AGS cafe. We found this to be a very fancy meal. The doll's were given their own seat to sit in.

Little cups/ saucers to enjoy being at the table with us.

Lexi was quite horrified. She didn't order the yummy "welcoming buns" nor did she order the fruit/veggie/pretzel tray (course #2). How did they expect her to finish what she did order? When she found out she would need to eat dessert also, she just about flipped! :-)

Fruit skewers came with the girls' meals. They were devoured quite quickly and enjoyed.

Dessert was extremely yummy: chocolate moouse....

heart shaped cakes & flower cookies

all served on a striped plate.

Lexi content from a large meal with a spot of chocolate on the side of her cheek!

Grandma and her girls enjoying a fun meal.

Me and my girls! What memories were made.

One last stop before we left the store.
